A group of ten seminarians from Holy Trinity Seminary traveled to Washington, D.C. in late January to participate in the National Prayer Vigil for Life at the National Basilica. This annual event is held near the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court case to pray for the protection of the unborn.
The opening mass for the vigil, celebrated by Cardinal O’Malley, was attended by a crowd of 20,000 enthusiastic pilgrims. The group from Holy Trinity Seminary was vested in cassock and surplice to process in with over 550 of their brother seminarians from around the country.
Freshman HTS seminarian Christian Murphy from the Archdiocese of Santa Fe said the opening mass was undeniably his favorite event over the weekend due to the overwhelming number of people and the stunning beauty of the National Basilica.
Chad Henry, freshman HTS seminarian from the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, said traveling to Washington for this event impacted him greatly. “There were so many people there praying for the unborn. As a seminarian, it gives me a lot of hope for the future.”
Let us all pray for the legal protection of the unborn and greater respect for human life in every stage.
