Holy Trinity Seminary Remembers Former Spiritual Director

Father Aaron Arce, O.P. passed into eternal life on October 9, 2012 in St. Louis, Missouri after battling cancer.  He was 68 years old.  Father Aaron served as one of the spiritual directors at Holy Trinity Seminary between 2005 and 2007.  Besides his work at Holy Trinity Seminary, Father Aaron also served as the Prior of St. Albert the Great Priory and as a chaplain at UT Southwestern University Hospitals---St. Paul and Zale-Lipshy.

Father Aaron Arce was born in 1944 in Kingsville, Texas (located in the Diocese of Corpus Christi).  He was the oldest of five boys.  His father worked in the U.S. Postal Service and his mother worked as a homemaker.  He met the Dominican order through their work in campus ministry at the University of Houston while he was a doctoral student there in the field of education.  He soon entered the Dominicans and was ordained a priest on November 1, 1980 at St. Rose of Lima Priory in Dubuque, Iowa.

Father Aaron was remembered fondly by several of his former directees as a good listener who offered prudent direction in the development of the spiritual life.  Monsignor Olson, Rector of Holy Trinity Seminary, stated, “While Father Aaron’s time at Holy Trinity Seminary preceded mine by several years, I had the pleasure of working with him on several projects in the area of Health Care Ethics.  He was happy in his Dominican vocation as a priest and as a religious.  I am grateful for his past ministry at Holy Trinity Seminary.”  Please remember to pray for the repose of the soul of Father Aaron Arce and for the consolation of his family and religious community.
