HTS Seniors Present
Theses
By Grant Kelly
Senior seminarians at
Holy Trinity presented their theses earlier this month, a cap stone event for
their time here. As part of the “Philosophy and Letters” graduation
requirements each seminarian writes and presents a thesis. Seniors Daniel
Cochran, Matthew Giacomuzzi, Quinn Huston, Kevin Simmons, and Joshua Stephens
presented on topics ranging from celibacy, family life, and martyrdom, to our
epistemology of God and Irreligious Philosophy’s contribution to Theology. The presentations are insufficient to underscore the amount of time and effort each seminarian has invested in his project, allowing 20 minutes for the actual presentation and 10 minutes for questions. The culmination of four years of academic preparation and formation as well as a year and a half of direct involvement in the thesis itself is represented in the senior presentation. These young men will graduate from the University of Dallas and Holy Trinity Seminary with a strong foundation in philosophy plus the benefit of a core curriculum in the liberal arts. For the seniors, this is not simply an opportunity to showcase their own style of presenting -- rather they demonstrate what they have learned over their four years here. Each one is showing readiness to move onto theology and engage the world as a priest for the New Evangelization.
